The High School to Art Schoolhouse program (HS2AS) is a Complimentary visual arts portfolio evolution program that provides qualified high school sophomores, juniors and seniors with the art skills training, mentorship, essay writing techniques, college application aid and financial assist planning necessary to proceeds acceptance into competitive art colleges and achieve their dreams in the arts.

Students apply to the program through an online application called submittable, where you will be asked to provide:

summer 2022 sESSION: Art Making INtensive
Awarding DEADLINE IS SUNDAY JUNE 5!
Overview: The Summertime "Art making Intensive" Session is a great opportunity for students to dive into a month and one-half of fine art-making in an immersive setting that enables students to explore observational drawing in graphite, charcoal, and ink, too as a variety of other media including painting, collage-making, and printmaking.

Eligibility: All rising high school juniors and seniors living in the Greater New York Metropolis Area area eligible for HS2AS. This Spring Session volition provide students interested in going to fine art college with an introduction to portfolio development, focusing on edifice students' art vocabulary and observational drawing skills.

Portfolio & concept development
Students keep to hone their observational cartoon skills for their fine art portfolios and engage in portfolio and concept development guided by peer critique and individualized guidance from our experienced instruction artists. Each students will develop a cohesive body of work to submit to an art colleges, job, fellowship, or internship opportunity.
Art higher APPLICATION help
The Fall HS2AS Session will walk students through all aspects of applying to higher for fine art, including finalizing your college list, applying to scholarships, filling out financial help forms, and specialized instruction on writing the art college essay.

Art Info Day features representatives from prestigious fine art schools and arts opportunities who engage students in one-on-1 portfolio review sessions. FIELD TRIPS
Students will participate in socially distanced field trips to arts and cultural institutions across the city. Prospective destinations include the Chelsea Gallery District, MoMA PS1, and Socrates Sculpture Park.

Where are classes held?

Given how dramatically the landscape of college education has changed in the by year, our HS2AS program has besides evolved to suit students' needs. With many emerging artists electing to defer or postpone higher education in light of Covid 19, our plan has expanded the scope of what it ways to become from loftier school to art school. Our Fall Session, designed for seniors, at present encompasses individualized pupil advisement around planning a productive gap year and glide year.
